SF Engagement Session | Vy + Matthew

Engagement

SF Engagement Session days always feel special to me, especially when a couple wants their photos to reflect who they really are. When Matthew and Vy shared that they wanted their engagement session to feel like a date, I knew San Francisco was the perfect place to tell their story.

Instead of planning around popular landmarks, we focused on moments that already mattered to them.

Matthew proposed to Vy in a photobooth in San Francisco, so returning there felt like a natural place to begin. Stepping back into that space brought an immediate sense of familiarity. The laughter came easily. The connection felt effortless. Recreating that moment wasn’t about copying the proposal. It was about honoring the memory and letting it live again in a new way.

From there, the session slowed into something more relaxed.

We stopped at a coffee shop and let the pace soften. This part of their SF engagement session felt cozy and personal. They ordered their drinks, chatted between sips, and settled into the kind of rhythm that comes from being comfortable together. These are the moments I love photographing most, because nothing needs to be forced.

After coffee, we wandered through the streets of San Francisco. The city added texture, movement, and a quiet kind of energy. We walked without a strict plan. We paused when something caught their attention. The session flowed naturally as the city unfolded around them.

That sense of movement made each transition feel intentional. One moment led into the next without pressure. The experience felt more like time spent together than time spent posing.

This is why date-style SF engagement sessions work so well. When couples stay present, their connection leads the way. The photos become a reflection of how the day felt, not just how it looked.

Matthew and Vy’s engagement session felt honest because it was rooted in their story. Every location held meaning. Every moment felt lived in.

These are the images that last. Not because they follow trends, but because they reflect real connection in a city that already meant something to them.
